HYALURONIC FILLERS

Hyaluronic fillers (such as Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvederm® Ultra, & Juvederm® Ultra Plus) consist of a natural substance that already exists in the human body called Hyaluronic Acid.  It can be used to fill fine lines and moderate to severe wrinkles while restoring fullness to your face.

Does it erase all of my wrinkles?

It actually depends on the area that is injected and the amount of product used. One may have an 80- 100% improvement in the appearance of the injected lines and wrinkles.

1

How long does it last?

Each person's body metabolizes substances or products differently.  Correction is immediate and results may be visible for 6-9 months on average.

2

Does the filler go away completely?

Yes it does. If you stop receiving the injections, the material is broken down by the body, leaving no traces of the  filler in the skin.

What should I do pre-treatment?

One should avoid alcohol for 3 days and any product(s )containing aspirin, Ibuprofen, Ginko Biloba, St. John's Wort or high doses of Vitamin E for 1 week prior to the treatment.   This will decrease the risk of bruising and bleeding at the treatment site.

4

What should I do post-treatment?

Intermittent application of ice is advised for 24-48 hours post-treatment.  Do not manipulate the treatment area and refrain from aerobic exercise for a few days.   There may be redness, swelling and minor bruising at the injection sites.  Ask your provider if they suggest the use of certain OTC creams that may help with healing.

Does it hurt?

There may be some discomfort with this procedure.  A  prescription-strength topical anesthetic is available and routinely used.  Ice is applied to the treated area prior to and after injection.  Juvederm® Ultra XC,  Juvederm® Ultra Plus XC, Restylane®-L, Perlane®-L,  are now available, providing an infusion of lidocaine in each syringe and significantly minimizing treatment discomfort!
